The Paxton FFA Chapter had a good showing yesterday, February 21, 2024 at the Nebraska district 9 CDE Contest. Paxton FFA members competed in Floriculture, Ag Sales, Welding, and Environmental and natural resources contests at the district contest.
The Ag sales team, consisting of Ethan Hardin, Ainsley McConnell, Haley Holzfaster, and Noah Coppersmith, highlighted the day coming home as the district champions and securing their spot at the Nebraska FFA State convention. Ethan led the charge coming in as the third high individual and receiving a purple ribbon followed by Noah and Haley, both receiving red ribbons, and Ainsley receiving a white ribbon.
Paxton Fielded two Environmental and Natural Resources teams and also secured a state convention qualification. Team members consisting of members Landon Drews, Jasper Brewster, Noah Coppersmith, Ethan Hardin, Sarah Brott, Tommy Markussen, and Wyatt Walker. The state convention bound team will consist of Sarah, Noah, Tommy, and Wyatt.
The floriculture and welding teams both had respective showings at the district contest, but through their best efforts were not able to attain their goal of a state qualification berth. These teams consisted of Floriculture: Sarah Brott, Madison Hansen, Hadleigh Kramer, Skylar Johson, Haley Holzfaster, Jaleigh Hansen, Reece Glinn, and Eva Crowley. Welding team members included: Josh Eakins, Joe Eakins, Gunnar Foster, Jasper Brewster, Fernando Hernandez, Maddox McConnell, Wyatt Walker, and Tommy Markussen.

Environmental Science students got the opportunity to tour Gerald Gentleman Station in Sutherland to learn more about energy generation. Thanks to Connor Merrill, Joe Gerih, and Kameron Reeves for taking the time to show us around!
